Description

In this lesson, the students will be able to talk about their future plans using the target language.

Materials

Abc Conversation about the birthday party
Abc questions about planning for the party
Abc Questions during the party
Abc Freer practice

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of a birthday party.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of "be going to be" for for the future plans in the context of a birthday party.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will tell my students " I'm very happy do you know why" they will tel me guesses and I will tell them that " I'm going to my best friend's birthday party" - was the birthday in the past?no - Did I plan for the birthday now or in the past ? past Talk to your partner about "what are you going to do this evening" Then I will take feedback.

Highlighting (3-4 minutes) • to focus on the target language - form

I'll give you HOs about conversation between two friends who are going to a birthday party, work alone to fill in the blanks check your answers with your partner Then check your answers from the board ( a displayed conversation on the board)

Useful Language (6-7 minutes) • To enable the Ss to be well-involved to the topic and phrases pronunciation

I will drill the questions and phrases of the conversation and focus on the stress and the intonation. work in pairs, to practice the role play between As and Bs and then switch the role. I will monitor and help for the intonation and pronunciation.

Speaking activity (Controlled Practice #1) (7-9 minutes) • to enable the students to practice the target language.

I will ask the students to stand in a row according to their birthdays. Then I will ask them whose birthday is in June , or any close birthday and then I will tell them that we are going to celebrate "one's" birthday. I will tell them to sit In two groups, and I will give them a set of questions to answer them about the plans and preparation for "one's birthday" What are you going to wear? What are you going to do in the birthday party? What time are you going to be there? What activities are you going to do in the birthday party? What are you going to buy your friend a birthday present? The Ss' Hos are numbered on the top corner,eg. A,B,C,D I will ask the As, Bs, Cs and Ds from each group to find each other and share ideas about what they've planned for the party

Feedback and Error Correction (1-2 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T will write down the errors and mistakes she has heard while monitoring round the class.

Semi-Controlled Practice #1 (7-9 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I will give the students HOs and will ask them to mingle together within the birthday party surrounded by musical background, and ask each other the questions in the Hos about their future plans. If time, they can share their ideas with their partners. I will monitor and help

I will ask the students to sit in groups of three and I will give each person in each group a topic to talk about. - You just won $5,000 in the lottery. Tell your friends what you are going to do with the money. - Tell your group what you are going to do this weekend. - tell your friend what you are going to do next year. and then if-time, I will ask them to find their partners in other groups and share their ideas.
