Description

In this lesson, students will learn about vocabulary of fashion. At first, they will classify adjectives in relation to the displayed pictures. Then, They will go for a personality quiz. later on, they will review some vocabulary related to fashion, and finally, they will talk about an expensive item that they bought recently.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher will display 2 pictures of 2 persons: a woman and a man wearing elegant clothes, and another couple wearing casual ones. Students will take a look and try to classify the adjectives mentioned to these photos. Adjectives: Fashionable, mundane, trendy, elegant, stylish, sophisticated, practical, chic, comfortable, impractical

Highlighting (8-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Match the word with its definition: 1- carefree a- sensible and practical 2- rebellious b- not easily upset or annoyed 3- vain c- too proud of the way you look 4- shallow d- happy and without worries 5- easy-going e- not interested in serious things 6- down-to- earth f- difficult and disobedient

Exposure (10-15 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Quiz time: Know your personality from the way you dress! Read the statements below and write in your notebook A= I agree B= it depends C= I disagree Count how many As, Bs and Cs and see which letter you have the most. 1- People say I am trendy. 2- I always use hair products ( gel, hairspray, etc) in the morning. 3- I get bored with my clothes quickly. 4- I love dressing up for parties. 5- don't mind where my clothes come from, I just want to look good. 6- I'd never cut my hair for charity. 7- I believe that wearing make-up is not only for women. 8- I am interested what's in fashion and what's out of fashion.

Controlled Practice (5-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Spend 2 minutes preparing for the following task, try to use as many words as you can. Describe an expensive item you bought recently. you should say: - what you bought - why you chose it - what you use or need it for - whether it was good value and whether you are happy with it, why/why not?
