  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a interviews in the context of Biography

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a biography in the context of magazine

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Pre-teach: Interview / interviewer. Drill for pronunciation. Ask the sts to think of 6 questions to ask me using the question words. Sts in BO rooms write 6 questions. F/B - listen to some questions and drill if necessary.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Show my Biography. Ask learners to read and see if they can find the answers to their questions. F/B - what questions and answers did you find.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Show the matching questions. Sts in BO rooms match the two halves of the questions. F/B - show answer key.

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Interviews. Learners interview the new teachers. BO rooms - maybe move the teachers round if there are not many questions.

Writing consolidation (8-10 minutes) • To practise free writing

Based on their notes learners write a short biography of the person they interviewed.

Feedback and Error Correction (4-6 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Get learners to display their biographies and read each others.
