Students will be provided with free blank paper and the teacher will tell them to write the numbers 1 to 7 on that paper, The teacher will tell them to write B, F or M next to each number as they listen to the conversations. I will play the recording pausing it after each conversation if necessary. After listening, i will ask them to check with their partners and after do whole class feed back. I will ask students to tell me what clues helped them decide what the people were talking about and also to guess a suitable topic for the lesson.

Controlled practice stage. (5-7 minutes) • This stage aims at learner training and creating a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere in the classroom.

The teacher will focus the students attention on the table and point out that there are three columns of words which come from the conversations they have just heard. I will ask them to write the correct heading above each column. I will check answers with the whole class and after tell them to unfold their hand outs. The students will be put into pairs and tasked to look at the table and then below and tasked to add more words to each column. The teacher will also point out that some of these words fit in more than one column. Whole class feed back will be done by getting answers from each group.

The teacher will tell students that they are going to listen to six extracts from film sound tracks. I will go through the possible genres in the box and make sure everyone understands them. I will play the recording to give students a chance to decide what kind of film they think it is by telling them to write down on paper and after that whole class feed back will be done to check for correct answers. Students will be put into groups and asked to discuss about films and ask them to think of some of the films they know in different genres and to find out which types of films the students in their groups like best. I will encourage them to report back to the class.
