Description

At the end of this lesson , students will be able to use new techniques of reading such as skimming and scanning. Teacher will help them to use these new techniques while the lesson.

Procedure

warm up / lead in (5-6 minutes) • to generate interest in reading and encourage production of the topic.

pre-reading • to prepare students for the reading stage.

Teacher will write this question on the board " what is the importance of Facebook?". He will ask them to discuss it with their partner in 1 minute. ICQS: Are you going to work in pairs or in groups? How much time do you have? Are you going to discuss or comment on this question?

Teaching vocabulary (4-5 minutes) • To facilitate understanding of the text.

Explain the following blocking words: Eliciting questions: 1)what can you see in this picture? why it is important? what do you use Facebook for? CCQS: Do you use Facebook in order to apply for a job? Is it real jobs or fake ones? Are the salaries good or bad? 2)Eliciting questions: what can you see in this picture? what is the use of this application ? what is the difference between Facebook and Twitter? CCQS: Do you use Twitter or Facebook? Is it important to use these applications? How much time do you spend on these applications?

pronunciation • to pronounce words correctly

I will pronounce the words three times and I will ask students to watch my lips during pronouncing the words.

while reading 1 (4-5 minutes) • to help students skim the lesson and read for the main idea

I will write some questions on the board and ask students to answer them. what do you think this article is about? Is it important to take care of your profile for job selection? Do you have to write any comments about your job on Facebook? Teacher ask students to work in pairs in order to discuss the answers in 4 minutes. ICQS: Are you going to work in pairs or in groups? Do you have to understand each word? How much time do you have?

while reading 2 (5-6 minutes) • to develop the ability of students to read for specific information.

Teacher will write these on the board and ask students to answer them while reading the passage in 5 minutes individually. what did HR bosses say? what did Peter Collen say? How did social networking application affects our job oppotunities? ICQS: Are you going to work individually or in groups? How much time do you have? Are you going to write the answers or discuss them?

post reading task (8-9 minutes) • to develop the fluency of students on the topic and make sure they can react towards the topic through a production process

Teacher ask students to stay in groups. Each student will share his or her opinion and experience about Facebook profile and how it can affect our job opportunities. Each student will have 3 minutes to speak as a member in the group. ICQS: How much time does every student have? Are you going to discuss or write your opinion? Are you going to work in pairs or in groups?

PACS (2-3 minutes) • to enhance good points and correct their mistakes.

Teacher will praise the performance of students and ask them to see some of the sentences that have some mistakes and ask them to correct them by themselves.
