Pre-Intermediate- A1 level


In this lesson, the students focus on developing their reading skills. This is one of the more difficult skills for learners to master, but also one of the most important.The students also learn new vocabularies related to the article.They will learn how to pronunance them.They have chance to have freer speaking in this lesson.

Main Aims

  • To provide the reading skills in the context of 'Dance'. The teacher makes them to scan the reading part and learn new vocabularies related to 'Dance'.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give the students freer speaking practice in order to encourage their spoken fluency.


Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher asks some question about dancing , music tastes, conerts,parties and gives the students a questionnaire HO1.The teacher gives time to read and answer it. And the students discus their answers. They check the result of the questionnaire.

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The teacher gives them HO2.The teacher shows them some touristic places in Turkey. They discuss the questions between different groups.The teacher wants to learn what they do on holidays.( nightlife, favorite place for a night out etc.)

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The teacher shows the students the photo of Ibiza and wants to guess them where Ibiza is.The teacher gives some information about dance music for all taste. The teacher gives them HO3, they read it and try to find the answers related to the article.They also discuss on some compound nouns like ' foam parties, a swimming pool etc.'

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The teacher asks some question about clubs.The teacher shows photos related to clubs and gives some information about the clubs 'Amnesia and Privilege' and gives them HO4.The students read it and match the clubs with the features in 2.The teacher asks 'Have you ever been to ..? For example:a) 'live music' -Privilege.The teacher gives them a short questionnaire about prepositions of 'at and on'.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The teacher gives the students HO .The ss work together and try to fill in the blanks using new words.They check their answers. The teacher wants the students to work in different groups and answers some questions. Would you like to go to Ibiza? Why/ why not? Where do you go for a holiday? Why? When did you last have a holiday? Who with?
