Description

In this lesson, students are going to learn information about doing different things in London at different times of the year. The student will also learn new vocabulary about doing some activities and practice them. The lesson ends with a speaking activity using the context of what to do in London at different times of the year.

Materials

Main Aims

  • The students will be able to comprehend and practice the context of what to do in London at different times of the year.

Subsidiary Aims

  • -The student will be provided a fluency speaking practice in a role-play a short conversation in the context of What to do in London at different times of the year. -For Ss to practice reading and finding meaning of highlighted verbs and verb phrases. - For Ss to learn new words and phrases related to the context of what to do in London at different times of the year.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-The teacher asks the students to look at the 2 photos and explain what they refer to. -The teacher asks some students about their opinions.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-11 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-The teacher asks the student to predict what the text is about. -The teacher explains the difficult keywords by visual aids,highlighting the form, the pronunciation, and asking ICQs and CCQs.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-11 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

-T gives clear instructions related to exercise A asks ICQs - T asks Ss to read the sentences and match them correctly. - T asks Ss to work in individually first then in pairs. -T gives a feedback to the students' answers.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (12-13 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

-The teacher asks the students to read the text and complete the sentences in exercise B individually. -T asks the Ss to check their answers in pairs. -The teacher gives feedback to the students about their answers.

Post-Reading/Speaking (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text, to produce the language more and expand on what they've learned

-The teacher asks the students to ask each other in pairs (role play) in exercise C and answer the questions. -The teacher asks the students to ask each other in pairs (role play) by personalizing the activity to talk about their own experience. (Turkey) The teacher asks some students to give their feedback.
