Description

In this lesson, the Ss will practise listening in the context of charity. They will practice listening for gist and for details . Finally, they will talk about people who introduce help for charities .

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T displays some pictures about poor and needy people in Asia and asks some questions about the pictures to activate the learners' schemata and to get them more involved in the lesson.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T introduces some new vocab related to the text that may hider the comprehension process. T makes sure that all the learners have understood them. T asks CCQs to check the meaning. T models the pronunciation and drills.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T introduces the first task. T asks clear and short ICQs to check the S have understood what to do. -What are you going to do? To answer or to choose /? To answer How many questions 9 or 10 ? 9 S listens twice and tries to answer the comprehension questions. T monitors from apart and makes sure the son the task S discuss their answers in pairs or groups. T discusses the answers with the student and gives feedback T provides the A/ K

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T introduces the second task. T asks clear and short ICQs to check the S have understood what to do. -What are you going to do? To choose or match the pictures with the letters /? To match How many questions photos ? 8 or 9 ? 9 pictures S listens twice and trie to match the pictures with the letters ( A- H ) T monitors from apart and makes sure the learners are on the task S discuss their answers in pairs or groups. T discusses the answers with the student and gives feedback T provides the A/ K

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

-T introduces the task -You are going to mention if you know people like Jane who do a lot for charities. -T introduces ICQs to make sure the Ss know what to do. -What are you going to talk about? people like Jane who does a lot to charity. -Ss start discussing in pairs and groups -T monitors SS. SS report their views to the class T discussed and gives feedback
