Description

In this lesson, students learn about celebrations and parties. The lesson starts with some questions about the students' experience at the party. This is followed by showings some pictures for eliciting new words and phrases. Finally, the students describe one of their celebrations or parties in pairs and groups.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-The teacher greets the students and asks some questions relating to the celebrations and parties. - The teacher asks their experiences about the parties and the students' ideas about the celebration.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

- The teacher shows some pictures and elicits new words and vocabulary. - The teacher asks the students to repeat new words with the right pronunciation. - The teacher shows the list of celebrations and parties with the phonemic symbols of that. -The teacher asks students to work in pairs to practice and asks the students to works with each other in a breakout room and answer the questions.

Teach (8-12 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

-The teacher shows some pictures and definitions of new words with the phonemic symbols and asks the students to match the words with definitions - The teacher asks the students to match the box A (verbs) and B(words/phrases) (exercise 2, sb). -The teacher shows the answers to matchbox questions.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

- The teacher shows some questions in exercise 3a of the students' book and asks the students to take a photo of that. - The teacher asks students to discuss with each other about those questions in the group at the break out room. - The teacher asks students to provide related images about the parties and celebrations that they have been. the teacher asks each group answers.

Free practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- The teacher asks students to share their ideas about that topic that they have discussed in the group with other students and also asks them to share the related picture if they have. -Finally, the teacher gives feedback to the students.
