Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of Gadgets in the context of Electrical and electronic gadgets

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about Gadgets in the context of Electrical and electronic gadgets

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will show the first slide and will ask Ls "which gadgets do you have/know ?" and will let the Ls to talk about it. T will monitor and lead the learners if it was necessary.

Test #1 (5-6 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

T will show the words box and will ask Ls to take a quick look . T will ask Ls to do exercise 2a T will observe Ls and lead them if it was necessary. T will give the answer to the Ls.

Teach (18-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

T will show the slides and elicit the words by following story and instruction : : *T: who has got a mobile phone? (Ls answer) *T: who plays with it?(Ls answer) *T: me too, I play with my phone so much. But when I play with my mobile phone It gets hot and suddenly I can't move my players on my screen, I can see the screen is on but I can't do anything. It (freezes)CCQs: 1- does it cold or not working?(not working) 2- It's on or off ?(on) so when my phone freezes I have to (switch it off) and then (switch it on ).when I switch it on I see the battery alarm , I need to charge my phone but first I have to (plug in) my charger to have electricity .CCQs: 1- when I plug in my charger it has electricity or not ?(has) 2- did it have electricity before? (no) whats the opposite of plug in ? (Ls answer) it's unplug. I know that very soon it will (crash) and stop working :CCQs: 1- does it work after crashing?(no) 2- do I have to take it to the service office?(yes) there is no problem , I will go by my car, but oh no..... my car the same , It's ( breaking down).CCQs : 1- does it work ?(no) 2- If I don't fix it it will work?(no) T will give the Ls the meaning of new words. T will show the slides to the Ls and show the stress and phonetics of each word.

Test #2 (6-8 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

T will give Ls exercise 3 T will give clear instruction and check it with ICQs: 1- are you going to write number in front of the sentence or write sentence ?(write the number) 2- are you going to write the numbers when you hear the the phrase? (yes) T will monitor the Ls and will lead them if it was necessary. T will ask Ls to do the exercise 4 a&b. T will give the instruction and will choose for each student a word. T will monitor Ls and will lead them if it was necessary. T will ask Ls 'who could guess and what it was?' Note: If there wasn't enough time T can skip this part.( exercise 4).

Free practice (5-6 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T will give Ls exercise 5 and will ask Ls to talk about it. T will observe and lead Ls if it was necessary. T will show the photos' of gadgets again and will ask Ls to say the names. Note: if there was no time, T can skip this par. T will write some corrections and drill some words that learners had problem with them if it was enough time.
