To provide clarification, review and practice of Tourism in the context of norms , customs and etiquette.
Procedure (37-46 minutes)
T will show Ls some photos from different countries also Turkey and ask learners about which one of these countries they were visited. T will ask Ls about the customs of their country or they visited.
T will show the slides to teach new words by giving the meaning and eliciting and check it with CCQ. 1-T will give the meaning of the norm and ask CCQs: Is it a norm to walk naked on the street?(no) Is it a norm to help people?(yes) 2-T will show the pictures to show the meaning of custom and ask CCQs: Is it a custom for Turkish people to invite their guests to drink tea or coffee?(yes) Is there any difference between Turkish customs and American customs?(yes) 3- T will give the meaning of etiquette and ask CCQs: Is etiquette a formal behaviour ? (yes) Is this sentence about etiquette ' If some one said hi to you, you have to say hi too.' ?(yes) T will give each group one subject, and will ask them to write some tips about it. T will observe and lead Ls if it was necessary. T will ask some Ls about their tips.
T will give learners the list of useful language and will ask them to read it and ask any question about understanding them . T will give some examples for some them and will ask Ls to do the same . T will observe and lead the Ls if it was necessary.
T will start to introduce the role play by following instruction: 1- depends on the number of students, T will divide Ls into some groups.(In each group 2 or 3 person ) 2- One of the Ls will take roll of the tourist and , second one will give advice about what to do and the third one will give advice what not to do . (If there was only 2 Ls in the group , one of them will be the tourist and another one will give both advice) 3- T will ask Ls to use the useful language phrases. 4- T will do ICQs. who is the tourist, rise your hands. who will give advice about what to do? rise your hands. who will give advice about what not to do ? rise your hands. are you going to use these phrases (T will show useful language phrases) while speaking ? (yes) NOTE: T will modeling the task with one of the students if it was necessary.
T will ask Ls about what advice they gave/got, and correct them while speaking. NOTE: T will write some mistakes that Ls did during the lesson h if there was enough time.
