Elementary level


In this lesson, students learn about describing the people and also some vocabulary related to it. This is followed by some related exercises and reading text. Finally, the teacher asks the students to write a description of one person and gives them feedback.

Main Aims

  • To write a description of a person that students see in the SB

Subsidiary Aims

  • To learn adjectives vocabulary about describing someone.


Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T greets students and aks some questions like: Do you like long/short hair? Do you have long hair? -The teacher will elicit some new vocabulary by showing some pictures.

Exposure (7-9 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/writing

-The teacher shows some photos from SB and asks to answer the questions. -The teacher asks the students to complete the table according to the word/phrases given to the students.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify the describing some one in writing task

-The teacher asks the students to read the text in SB. (Ex.3) -The teacher shows the people's images on the same page and asks the students to say the text is about which person.

Productive Task(s) (15-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

-The teacher asks the students to write a description of a person that they select from 4 people in the SB. -The teacher asks the students to write in the if they know how to use it and write on a paper if they don't know. -The teacher shows them a some ideas for writing.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

-The students share their writing in class and if they write on a paper they will read their writing. -The teacher will give feedback to the students.
