Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson students will be able to learn new vocabularies(gullible-tight-fisted-determined_arrogant-extravagant-meticulous-finicky-obstinate) Students will be able to pronounce them correctly and use them in sentences

Subsidiary Aims

  • Students will be able to speak fluently about some personal traits.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

ask the students a question (what makes you like or dislike someone?) let them discuss the answer in pairs and i will give them a key word (may be his character)

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1- ask them to read ho1 silently 2-ask them to circle the adjectives 3-give them ho1 4-ask them ICQ eg;(are we going to circle the nouns?) 5-ask them to work in pairs to choose which of them are positive adjectives and which are negative adjectives? 4-reveal the answers using projector.

eliciting and clarification (18-20 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

1-clarifying the meaning using their definitions and some sentence with a clear context from ho1. 2-asking some ccq s eg; a-can you deceive a gullible person? b-do people like arrogant person? c-does the determined have a strong will? d-is the obstinate person flexible? e-is the meticulous person careless ? g-can tightfisted person spend money easily? h-does extravagant person spend money wisely? 3-drilling by repeating the words. 4-write them on the white board with black marker and highlight stressed syllables using red marker.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • controlled practice

1-ask students to work in pairs and write 4 sentences expressing their opinion about these adjectives using 2 positive adjectives and 2 negative adjectives . 2-show them a model for the paragraph on the projector; I dont like ---person ,because ------ I like ---person,because ------- ask them icqs a like (how many adjectives r we going to use?) (how many sentences are we going to write?). 3-monitor them carefully. 4-correct their errors on the spot.

freer practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

1-ask students to match the adjective to its synonym . 2-give them ho2. 3-monitor them. 4-project feedback for answers.
