Description

In this lesson, students learn food pairs vocabulary based on the text they have read. The lesson starts with a discussion about the foods and eating foods in different meals. This is followed by showing some pictures and eliciting the words. Finally, there is some controlled practice on using the pair word with correct pronunciation and stress.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T greets students and asks some questions about the foods like what did you eat for breakfast and elicit as many different items of food and drink as possible. The teacher will show the Rock and Roll music images as the teacher book suggests and will help the students understand the pair words.

Test #1 (3-6 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

The teacher asks students to answer the questions and complete the sentences to knowing what the students already know about the target language and helps them to be ready about the pair words.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

The teacher shows the picture of the words and asks CCQ about the words for eliciting the single words and pair words. The teacher asks the students to match the words that there are in the table and the plays the audio file to helps the students to match their answers. The teacher helps the students to use the correct pronunciation of the words with listening to the audio again and again and also with repeat and drill.

Test #2 (10-15 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

The teacher provides a pair of works practice and asks the students to works with each other in a breakout room. Also, provide controlled practice by providing the food suggestion and asks the students to complete the table.

Free practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The teacher asks some questions about the food and cooking and monitoring the students and finally, give feedback to the students without telling the students name.
