In this lesson student learn how to use reading skills.


Main Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about Facebook and other sites impact on one’s job. in the context of Facebook

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation .


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- Set up the context of the reading. 2- Ask Students to predict what will be the text. 3- Show them some pictures by PPT on the topic. 4- Ask them to discuss in pair. 5- Take feedback; ask them ICQS.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

1- Unblock difficult words; Job-seekers / survey / reputation / complaining. Elicit the words by asking CCQS. 2- Write the words on the board and repeat them.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

1- Ask students to read the text . 2- ICQS Are you reading quickly or slowly? quickly Do you need to translate every word? No 3- Ask them to check their answers in pairs. 4- Make an open discussion with them ( feedback )

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

1- Ask students, Do you search for jobs in Facebook ? 2- Ask them, What does your profile photo show? 3- Will you change it ? 4- Will you care about what you read ? 5- Ask them to write what they learn ? 6- Monitor and catch language errors and help them .
