Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide inference listening practice using a text about interview.

Procedure

lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students.

1- Greet students. 2- Ask a student some questions like the questions in the interview I prepared. 3- Make students predict what I did. 4- Tell them about interview, how it was prepared and how it went. 5- distribute sheets that I wrote questions about interview in it . 6- Ask students discuss the interview in pairs.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1- set the listening task . Tell student that they are going to listen to an interview between Mrs Marcotti and the interviewer. 2- Ask them, Do you get the main idea?, Do you think Pia will pass? ( ICQS) 3- Play the audio track. 4- Open discussion in pairs and get feedback. 5- Explain difficult words by typing on the board and matching task in sheets. 6- Let them discuss answers in pairs. 7- Give them answers key.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

1- Explain how to make sentences about interviews. 2- Ask them questions about what they listening. 3- clarify which tenses we used, how we use past to talk about experiences and present for habitual actions.

speaking (10-15 minutes) • To give students a chance to practice speaking for fluency.

1- Tell students they are going to interview each other. 2 - After finishing make them exchange their roles; the interviewer will be the viewer and vice versa. 3. Determine the time; five minutes for each stage. 4- write some examples of their language on the board, may be three or four depending on time.
