Description

In this session Ss learn about a pop singer through a podcast . The lesson starts with introducing some pop stars. this is followed by listening to a podcast and some exercises. finally Ss are presented with the script of the podcast as this kind of activity can help to improve listening skills, improve pronunciation and boost the confidence of weaker students.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students in a conversation about pop culture

T greets the students and share first page of the PowerPoint with Ss and ask them -do you know the artist ? -do you like them? -have you listened to their songs? there are 6 artists in page one and 2 of the PowerPoint T gets feedback from Ss and comment accordingly

Pre-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the audio

-T present the third page of PowerPoint which shows Adele and ask Ss the previous questions -T ask Ss to listen to the recording -T put Ss in pairs or groups based on the number of the student and ask them to do practice 1a -then T shows the answers

While-Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

-T present the 4th page of the PowerPoint -T ask Ss to read the practice b by themselves -T play the second part of recording twice -T put students in pair or groups to discuss the answers -because of the level of students T mostly use gestures for instructions and tries not to use complex ICQs -T monitors the group activity and provides suport if needed -T shows the AK

While-Listening #2 (12-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed listening tasks

-T present the Ss with the 5th page of the PowerPoint -T plays the whole recording once or twice based on Ss need -T put students in pairs or groups to discuss their answers to practice 2 -T monitors the groups and provide support if needed -T shows the AK

Post-Listening (3-5 minutes) • clarification

-T present the 6th page of the powerpointe which shows the script of the recording and play the recording one or two more times if needed -T provides support for any questions Ss may have
