Description

In this lesson, students learn about childhood and upbringing and also about related words. This lesson starts with a discussion about childhood and family roles. This is followed by listing to a track in the blood and answering the related questions. Finally, there is controlled practice on the new words that Ss learned and do the exercises.

Main Aims

  • To provide and practice listening skill and vocabulary in the context of upbringing and childhood.

Subsidiary Aims

  • For students to learn vocabulary items related to upbringing and participating in speaking.
  • To provide practice of New words and improve listinig skills

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- T greets Ss and elicits from students to ask a question about the way parents trained and educate their children. I will talk about my upbringing. I will ask questions about their upbringing. Ask yes or no questions from the students who have low knowledge about vocabulary. Ask informational questions about family and education with an average or good students.

Pre-Listening (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the lessening and make it accessible

Giving some vocabulary images that are used in listening. Showing the picture of the book and read the pre-listening paragraph.

Listening (15-20 minutes) • To provide students to understand the main idea of the listening and answer the questions.

I will play listening for getting a general idea. Ask the question about the audio (only general idea). I will give students 3 minutes to read the questions. I will play the recording again and ask the student to answer the questions. Ask the students to match the answers in pairs and discuss about the listening in the class and I will be monitoring them.

After listening (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

Students discuss what they can remember. Ask a question about Rafael and Mi-sun.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I will show the slides of the definition of a new word. They will answer the questions in ex. 4 Use the new words and answer the questions on ex.5
