To provide detailed listening practice using a text about volcanoes in the context of natural disasters
To provide clarification of of the vocabulary required for the theme volcanoes in the context of natural disasters
Procedure (33-45 minutes)
Teacher will ask the students of any natural disasters they can name, Teacher will ask Ss to speak about what type of natural disasters there are in a group.
SS will look at Ex. A and complete the short paragraph's blanks according to the illustraon and information provided.
Students will be asked to read the text about Dr. Franck Tessier and Dr.Irene Margaritis and answer the questions. general questions about volcanoes in pairs or groups EX. B pg.133
Students will listen to the audio for detailed information. EX. C There are 6 questions that they need to identify if it is T or F, Teacher will play the audio twice. SS will discuss the answers and teacher will reveal on the WB.
SS will answer the question if they think the geologists they watched like their jobs as a group. EX: D
Students will write 2 questions they would like to ask the geologists in the video and discuss between themselves.
I don't think there will be much time left but in the case that some higher level students increase the pace of the lesson an additional page with a short listening audio is ready for further details of the theme.
