Description

In this lesson, ss will practice 2 productive skills: writing ; and speaking in the context of daily lives. They will be taught some words related to the household and daily activities. Then, they will practice their writing skills as a pair work activity and then individually. Stick their sentences on the wall . Ss walk around and guess who wrote which one. After that, feedback will be given. Then there will be question time listening; ss listen to the questions then, practice asking each other and answering through "Find someone who" activity..

Materials

Abc Handouts, pictures and model answer sheets, listening track, white board and markers

Main Aims

  • To provide guided writing practice in the context of daily lives.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice the present simple tense.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show the students a picture of my family.Elicit from them the names of the family members; father , mother, sister, husband and pet. Tell them they are going to read about my family.

Exposure (10-12 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Pre- teach the new vocabulary- house, flat, drive, clean , watch, wears, glasses- using visuals. Introduce the meaning, form then pronunciation. Use CCQs to ensure they understand the meaning. Elicit the form from them and ask them to put every word in a sentence. Give them a reading task modelling what is expected from them in the writing stage. Ask them CCQs to check their understanding of the text.

Useful Language (5-7 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Ask Ss to underline all the verbs. Ask them to circle the nouns. Work in groups. Compare their answers to the model answer provided to them . At this stage ask students to highlight the "s" and "es" with the 3rd person singular.

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Controlled practice:Students are to answer writing exercise p 17 Ex 2 A in pairs Change pairs and check together. Each group will read present a part of their writing. Freer Practice: Every student is to write 5 sentences about their family and stick it to the wall. Every student has to read one piece of writing and guess who wrote it. Play the audio and ask Ss to listen to the questions and the stressed parts and intonation. Do "Find someone who" activity.Every student will pick a card with one question and they have to ask all their colleagues to find someone who smoke for example. Ask Ss to present their feed back. Freer Practice: Open pairs activity' every student is to ask another one from the other group a question about his daily life/ family.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Monitor them while writing. Jot down the mistakes. Write them on the board. Encourage the learners to find the mistake and correct. Help them using CCQs.
