Main Aims

  • To provide practice in reading for gist and guessing words in text in the context of the mystery of Okinawa

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

discussing question : ask students about how to be healthy? or what to do to be healthy ? or talk about healthy life style

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

what do you know about Okinawa ? where is it ? what is unusual about it? and let students discuss answers together matching activity for hard words

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

1- read the second paragraph of the article and answer the question : what is unusual about Okinawa people ? what is their secret? (a) 2- read the rest of the article put a title in each gap (b) 3- read the article again in pairs guess the meaning of highlighted words (C)

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

ask them a question : do people in Egypt live like Okinawans?what is different ? what is the same ?

feed back (7-10 minutes) • comment on students content and language

give them feed back about thee speaking part
