Description

In this lesson the students going to discuss the changes in the shopping basket through ten years and compare it with the shopping basket in their country. The lesson will start bye leading in that talks about what the Ss prefer to eat and which food they buy from markets, then they have a gist reading to choose a suitable title for the text . after that they have a hand out to lead them find specific information through the skim reading after the Ss finish the reading part they will start finding the details and discuss it with the other groups then they should compare it with their community and the shopping basket in their country to To provide fluency speaking practice

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice and detailed reading practice through the context about shopping basket

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversations and discussions in the context about the shopping basket

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students into the new text

T talks about shopping in his family and how many times he failed in paying their needs, T asked the Ss to write the last three things that everyone bught them then stick them on the board in a sparated paper. T reads the shopping basket from the papers on the board and discuss the Ss in wich is the most populer one or themost frequent one

Pre-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible through reading the text quickly by skimming

T asks the Ss to have a fast and brife look at the text and try to find the suitabble title for it Ss read the text iby skimming then share their ideas in pairs T writes three differents titles and asks the Ss to choose one T discuss the Ss with they choose this title Ss discuss eachother

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T sets the Ss in groups of two and asks the Ss to work in pairs T asks the Ss to read the questions briefly and then they can read the first two paragraphs T hands out three questions and the text and gives the Ss few minutes to read the text ( skaning reading ) to find the answers T monitors and asks ICQs WC answer the Q and discuss them toghther

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T hands out the q in EX 2 ( at the back of the first paper) T asks the Ss to read the Q in pairs then every S read the text alone Ss read the text (Scanning ) to find the correct answers T asks the Ss to work together and to check their answers Ss change their partners and check their answers again T reads the answers and discusses them with the Ss Ss discuss each other and give FB to themselves

Post-Reading/Listening (8-11 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T hands out the final three Qs and divides them into As,Bs and Cs As will answer the first Q Bs will answer the second Q Cs will answer the third Q After the Ss finishing their tasks they'll move around and ask the other Ss from other teams Ss will ask and answer the Qs and discuss them T reads the Qs and Ss answer and discuss and express Ss will practice speaking fluency and talk about their country and their eating habits
