Main Aims

  • To provide the Ss with the difference between "be going to" and present continuous.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide the Ss with a speaking task so that they can practice their grammar learned

Procedure

warmer (4-5 minutes) • To link the lesson with the previous lesson and elicit some ideas from the Ss

In this phase T asks the Ss they remember anything from the listening part they had yesterday. If they do remember, T writes some of their ideas at least two or three sentences. If they do not remember, T wants them to listen one more time and take notes about what they hear. Then T asks about the future plans they heard and wants them to clarify the meaning using CCQs.

Grammar (5-10 minutes) • To provide Ss with FMP of the grammar

After introducing the form and meaning, T checks and teaches the pronunciation too. T gives another handout to the Ss and want them to underline all sentences with the introduced grammar. Then Ss should read and explain the meaning of the sentences together in groups. After they finish the task, T asks them to come to the board and write the sentences on the board. Then she read the sentences and randomly asks them to explain the meaning of the sentences. Meanwhile T will also ask some CCQs.

Post-Grammar (5-10 minutes) • To provide the Ss with more practice on the TL learned

T gives the Ss another handout and wants them to do the first exercise in pairs. They should correct the mistakes and report to the class. T also wants the reason why the sentences are right or wrong. Next Ss should do practice 2 in pairs. T checks their answers then and wants them to practice the conversations. Now T wants them to put away their paper away and take out another paper. Ss should try to remember the questions in practice 2 and try to add more questions on their own with the help of their friends in groups.

Post-Grammar and Speaking (5-7 minutes) • To provide more fluency on the grammar practice

In this phase, T gives the instructions of what Ss are going to do. They should chose a student from the other group, ask a questions and she/he should answer. Then the students who was being asked the question should chose another student from the other group to ask a question.

Post-Grammar and Speaking (5-10 minutes) • To provide more fluency on the grammar practice

T changes the groups, gives another handout to Ss and want them to do in groups. After checking the answers, T wants the Ss to stand up and role play the conversations they practiced.
