Main Aims • For learners to practice receptive skills (Listening) for the gist, specific information and details in the context of shopping
to practice writing (short conversation) in groups
Procedure (47-64 minutes)
_ T ask ls Are you shopaholic?do you enjoy shopping? or find it relaxing?
_(self-made)power point T asks students 3 questions to talk about it in pairs CCQs : individually or in pairs ? and you have 2 mins
T pre-teaches the vocabulary items (addict,frustrated,look alike) through the power point presentation highlighting form, meaning and pron. CCQs :
_T ask Ls to listen carefully to the recording _T ask Ls to tell her who is talking to whom? _and also tell her if she is a shopaholic or not? _T after giving clear instructuions play the recording.
_T ask ls to read Qs once _T ask ls to listen again: instructions:u are going to listen again and tick the question as u hear. _check in pairs _T write up the answers
_T ask learners to listen again and write the answers _ICQS :why are u listening ? to write the answers. _peer check _show the correct answers in power point.
_T put students into A/B groups. _Instructions:u are going to write a short paragraph between Katy and one of her friends who wants to give her some advice ABOUT HER SHOPPING ADDICTION. _Encourage them to role play and swap partners both have the chance to practice giving advice. _FB
