Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher takes a cigarette from his pocket and asks if he can borrow a lighter from anybody to elicits" You can't smoke here". Teacher elicits that it's the school rule or even law. Asks students what are other rules of the school and thing you can and you cannot do and feedback.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Students read the text given and choose the correct verb form of in the text, compar their answers and feedback.

Teach (10-11 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Teacher writes example sentences from the text with have/has to, can/can't.and must/mustn't and elicits/explain the meaning using concept checking questions as necessary. Elicits the negative and question forms of the sentences, writes them on the board. Drills the sentences as explains.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

teacher gives stds another HO and asks students to fill in the gaps with have to, don't have to and mustn't. Students do the exercise and compare with their partner. If there is still problem teacher clarifies the meaning, for, pronunciation again as necessary.

Freer practice (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students discuss the rules in the place where they work/ worked about rules. They talk about the topics clothes, times of work/study, days off, responsibilities and other rules and fill the blanks in exercise three

Free Practice (12-12 minutes) • To get students use the TL in the more natural way

Students asked to imagine the world in 100 years time and discuss the rules in peers and agree on one of them
