TP 7 Vocabulary
A 2 level
To introduce the students new vocabulary by having receptive and productive skills.
To provide more practice on the target language, in the context of fashion, using receptive skills.
Procedure (40-52 minutes)
I am going to bring up the topic, show the students some photos of models in different outfits, and ask them to name each cloth. I will also elicit them about different clothes for different occasions.
The students are going to work on activity 1 in groups of 3. They are going to learn different type of clothes. They will get familiar with the pronunciation as well and we will work on 'to wear' and the usage of it.
The students are going to be in groups of 3. I am going to give them pieces of paper, with the name of different cloths on them. Then I am going to ask them to dress up a model, the way they want to using the given words. They have to choose the colors, the season, and then draw a picture of their model. The they have to describe their model for other students and the best model wins.
At first, I am going to show the students the newspaper headline and ask them to discuss the topic. Then they are going to read the text which is about 45 lines. They don't have to be worried about the words they don't know, because they aren't all in the context of fashion. After they read the text, they have to do activity 2, which is 8 questions of True or False. They will work with their partner, and I'm going to give them the correct answer.
They are going to do activity 3, which is speaking practice about the target language. They have to discuss the text they just read in groups, and refer it to their own country.
As the main aim is vocabulary, if I have time, I'm going to work on the vocabulary the students don't know from the text.
