Main Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of a perfect home

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about hypothetical situations in the context of a perfect home

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1_ T writes (a prefect home) on the board and give an example of one thing he needs in his prefect home and mentions the reason. 2_ T gives ss time to tell each others about their perfect homes and what they want in them. 3_ T gets some ss FB.

Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1_ T gives the ss HO 1 (vocabulary list). 2_ T asks the ss to help each other to discover the vocabularies' meaning 3_ T might need to teach some of the vocabularies, if all the ss weren't able to understand its meaning. 4_ T gives the ss vocabularies reference if needed. 5_ T asks the ss to read the texts on the wall to decide what the characters are talking about. 6_ Ss check the texts on the wall to get the task done. 7_ T asks the ss to check the answers.

Useful Language (10-12 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

1_ T gives the ss HO 2 and asks the ss to finish Ex 1. 2_ T gives the ss answer key. 3_ T asks the ss to finish Ex 2. 4_ T gets the ss FB. 5_ T gives the ss answer key. 6_ T starts highlighting the useful language on the board. 7_ T gives the ss the useful language reference.

Speaking task (10-12 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1_ T gives the ss HO 3. 2_ T asks the ss to fill in the table alone. 3_ T asks ss to discus their ideas together. 4_ T asks the ss to agree on six items only in their perfect home. 5_ T asks the ss to finish Ex 2. 6 _ T asks the ss to discus why those six things are important to them. 7_ T changes pairs and ask ss to talk about their perfect home.

Feedback and Error Correction (4-6 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' speaking and use of language

1_ T monitors ss while talking about their perfect home. 2_ T takes notes for error correction. 3_ T provides FB on ss speaking.
