  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of Sleepless nights

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1_ T shows the ss the title of the text. 2_ T gives the ss 3 minutes to discus the title in pairs and ask them to mention when did they have a sleepless night? why? 3_ After discussion, t asks the ss about their answers.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

1_ T gives the ss clear instructions about HO1. 2_ T gives the HO to the ss and gives them time to try to choose the correct words or numbers in Ex 3. 3_ T gives the ss clear instructions about the listening part and tells them that they have to listen and compare their answers. 4_ T plays the audio and waits until the ss gets the first answer, he stops and confirm that then he plays it again. 5_ T discuss the ss' answers. 6_ T gives the ss the answer key.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

1_ T shows the ss some pictures for the TL. 2_ T elicits the TL meaning from the ss. 3_ T drills the TL. 4_ T highlights on the board some grammatical forms, such as snore(v), insomnia(n)(u), sleeping pill(n)(c). 5_ T gives the ss vocabularies reference.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

1_ T gives the ss clear instructions of Ex 1 work book. 2_ T gives the ss Ex 1 Ho. 3_ T gives the ss 4 minutes to finish the Ex. 4_ T gives the ss 2 minutes to check their answers in pairs. 5_ T discuss the ss answers. 6_ T gives the ss the answer key.

Error correction (3-5 minutes) • To correct some ss errors ( notes were taken while there were speaking during the freer practice.

1_ T writes some sentences that he heard while the ss were speaking during the freer practice. 2_ T shows the ss the sentences he wrote on the board. 3_ T tries to elicit the sentences' correction from the ss.

Free Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1_ T asks the ss to choose two different flash cards. 2_ T gives the ss 4 minutes to talk to each others about the two phrases that they have in their hands. 4_ T monitors the ss while talking and takes some notes for error correction. 5_ T gets the ss FB about the discussion.
