Description

In this lesson, students will learn Grammar about past simple. First they they do the warm up bu showing pictures, then context is set for them by a text, then i use the WB for highlighting and clarification. Then there will be some controlled, semi-controlled and freer contrliied practices.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1-Teacher shows students 2 pictures and ask them them to look at pictures (30 seconds) 2- Teacher asks students to discuss it with each other and then tell the teacher about it.(2/30 minutes) Note: First picture is famous students tell about him.the other might not be well-known so the teacher tells about him,( 3 minutes)

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

1-Teacher asks students to read the text which is about ben silberman. They need to read the text individually. (3 minutes) 2- The teacher gives students a handout which contains questions about the text that they need to answer after the text,(2 mintutes) 3- They need to check the answers with each other and then I tell them the answer( 2 min) Possible ICQs: A. Are you reading every detail or just finding these ? finding answers B. How many sentences are there? 4 C. are you doing this alone or in pairs?alone D. how much time do you have? 3 min to read 3 min to answer

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Teacher asks students to read two sentences and then he writes those sentences on the board. He writes both sentences in two corners of the board .

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

1-Teacher writes timelines for two sentences and elicits wethere the sentence is tin the future or past and then draws attention\ to the adverb of time and then shows he exact time.3 minutes. Now Teacher elicites the form of the sentences and draw their attentions to the past verb in both verbs, one is regular the other is irregular. one gets (ed) the other has a change in form, teacher shows the stress in the sentences and the drill it by repeating. 4 min Now teacher elicits the past form and asks ccqs abou it and then drill it and write it in the board and the show the stress. 4 min Teacher elicits some regular verbs and write on the board and some irregular and write them on the board then past form of them. 3 minutes

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

1-Teacher gives students a list of regular and irregualr verbs and asks students to find the past form of the verbs and then asks them to tell him the answer and the he writes the answers on the board . (3 min). 2- Teacher asks a question " how do we form past simple in the regular/irregular verbs'' and Elicits the answers? 1 min

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Teacher asks students to do the practice 1a individually , They should write the sentences about ben silberman's life using the article 4 min 2- Students should check the answers with each other and then with the class 4 min

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1-Teacher asks students to write five students about their own life . 4 minute 2Then they work in pair and ask and answer questions about their own sentences 4 min
