Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of adverbs of frequency in the context of short life, long life?

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about teenagers in the context of short life, long life?


Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask my students if they think that nowadays teenagers will live as long as their parents?

Exposure (5-6 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

1- I will provide Ls with the reading text and ask them " Is it the same in your country? " 2- I will ask the student to look at the highlighted words,the target language, then I will provide them with a percentage chart, and let them tell me which one is more/less frequent. 3- ask the students to check in pairs. 4- give feedback while correcting the pronunciation.

Language Analysis (5-6 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

1- I will ask some CCQs to make sure they got the exact meaning of each adverb: *if something happens 10% of the time do I use "hardly ever or usually"? *Does all the time means never or always? 2- I will explain the form by using the activity "Grammar B page 32". 3-give feedback.

Task (5-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1- Provide the students with controlled activity, check in pairs, and feedback. ICQs: will we work alone or in pairs? how much time do we have? 2- Give Ls semi controlled activity by using exercise (grammar "d" pg.32), then ask them to compare with a partner. ICQs: will we write about ourselves or someone else? will we work alone or in pairs? how much time do we have?

Language Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

Provide them with a mingle speaking activity related to the target language.

Feedback and Error Correction (6-8 minutes) • To praise good use of the target language and correct errors.

Write their mistakes on the board after they finish the speaking activity, then ask Ls to correct the mistakes by themselves.
