GTYK/Lead- in (5-5 minutes) • To introduce the topic

Greetings, have their name tags on. Show visuals to elicit ''snack''. show n. snack and v. to snack ''snæk'' emphasis on the second syllable. show( to ................. a snack) (have) then ask Ss I want you to discuss in pairs your favorite snacks then get w/c feedback and write a few on the board.

Initial reading (5-6 minutes) • reading for gist

Tell Ss were going to read about some snacks from around the world now please read it quickly for 3 minutes and dont worry about words that you dont know. Then ask Ss if any of the snacks mentioned in the text are in the list on the board.

Vocabulary-Language focus (3-5 minutes) • To elicit vocabulary in the text.

rice cakes- visuals instant- visuals lentils- visuals chickpeas- visuals ground lamb- visuals focus on pronunciation.

second reading task (5-5 minutes) • practice skills of reading for specific information

Ask Ss to read the text again and to do the exercise 1. Ss have got 5 mins for this.

productive skills follow-up task (5-7 minutes)

Put students in pairs and ask them to discuss which one of the snacks they liked best and why? when they finish, have pairs report some of their opinions.

Follow-up task 2 (5-5 minutes)

HO exercise 2- Match the apetizers with their country of origin. Ask Ss find the countries the food come from. Have them discuss groups.

Follow-up task 3 (5-6 minutes) • More speaking

Ask Ss brainstorm their healthy unhealthy snack habits. Write on board healthy vs. unhealthy put them in pairs- one pair write healthy the other unhealthy. Call them on to the board and have them write. Monitor, help when necessary.
