in this lesson students will learn how use the present perfect through a scene from ''pursuit of happiness'' movie , memorize the pp of the irregular verbs and learn some idioms related to movies and books

Materials

Abc pursuit of happiness script

Main Aims

  • in this lesson students will be able to use the present perfect tense to talk about their experience, learn the second usage and practice the irregular verbs in the pp

Subsidiary Aims

  • students will be able to speak about their experience during an interview

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1-the teacher will show the student a picture of ''the pursuit of happiness'' movie 2-teacher will ask the students about the story of the movie or what do they remember 3-they will be shown the interview scene from the movie 4-teacher will divide them into 2 teams to discuss the scene and answer those questions .what was the problem with Chris Gardner? .if they accepted him in the internship or not ?

clarification (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

students will listen the second time and fill in the gaps in the script that will be given to them

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

1-the teacher will ask the students about the question that the manager /interviewer asked Chris about ? '' have you already started learning on your own ?'' and about Chris' answer ''Absolutely.'' 2-teacher draws a time line on the board and asks the students what's the meaning of Chris's answer !! -does it mean that he started learning before the interview ?/and until the interview day he is still learning ? so this is sth started in the past and still happening ? 3-teacher will ask them about this tense

Clarification (15-25 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-first usage : sth started in the past and till now it's still happening recap -second usage : the teacher will ask the students if the present perfect can be used in other ways ( experience in your life ) and elicit example from them teacher will give examples while drawing the time line -form +contraction (the pronunciation) -negative -question -the irregular verbs in the pp

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

for the Grammar from the book p .. vocabularies : 1- students will do the exercise in the book 2- Board race : -they will be divided into 2 teams every team will have 15 verbs in the inf form -when the teachers says the verb any volunteer of the team will run to the board to write the past simple and pp of the verb -the faster will be the winner 3-tha cards game

Free Practice (10-15 minutes) • students will be able to use the present perfect in the interview to talk about their expierience

1-the students will be divided into 2 pairs 2-eaxh pair will choose a job / and the questions they will ask each other about as the experience ? if he has worked in this field before and so on ....?
