From A to B lesson, Transport and Traveling

Description

In this lesson, students learn about some vocabulary that is related to transport and there is a text about how to travel in different countries. The lesson starts by showing pictures that are related to transport vocabularies. Then in the reading part, the teacher shows pictures to the text for discussing in pairs. The teacher uses skimming and scanning in reading to get a general and specific idea.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

*The teacher shows pictures that are related to the text and asks students to discuss with their partners about those pictures. *The teacher asks students to express their ideas about pictures

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

*The teacher shows pictures for teaching blocking words and elicits the words and use checking concept question and drilling. *The teacher gives the text to the student and asks what kind of text is about

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The teacher asks students to read the text to get a global understanding. after that students talk about their ideas in pairs. Then the teacher willing to know about students' ideas.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The teacher asks students to read the text again in detail. Then they should use numbers that is in the box and fill in the blank. After that asks questions as scanning e.g (the name of the country). For more details, the teacher asks questions about the text for more comprehension. Then the teacher put the recording for checking the answer.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The teacher asks students to write a paragraph about their city's transport. Then share their ideas with their partners. Then students should do the exercise for choosing the correct answers in pairs.
