Description

In this lesson, students learn about lexical phrases that are related to activities. The lesson starts with matching pictures with lexical phrases. This is followed by asking and answering about those pictures which one they like activities and which one they don't like.

Materials

Abc pictures
Abc the copy of straightforward intermediate book

Main Aims

  • The students should be able to use activities lexical phrases by the end of the lesson. Activities are included(cooking,reading, watching sports, spending time on the internet).

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide students practice activities words in speaking

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

*The teacher tries to use lexical phrases in her real-life conversation *The teacher has a conversation with students by using lexical phrases indirectly

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

The teacher shows some pictures on the projector which are related to lexical phrases and asks questions about those pictures and students try to guess what are the activities.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

*The teacher asks questions from the pictures that exist in the book then the teacher asks students to match lexical phrases to the pictures in pairs. While the students work the teacher monitoring them . *The teacher puts two stickers on the board (like and dislike) then the teacher gives cards to students that are written phrases activities on them and they have to put them on the below of those stickers that which one do they like and which one they don't.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

The teacher writes the question on the board "do you like.......?" then she wants students to ask and answer about those activities by using the question that the teacher has written on the board.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The teacher prepares some pieces of paper and put students into small groups. Students have one minute to draw a picture and get the other students to guess what the activity is. The student who is drawing can not speak, but must only draw pictures. When a student guesses the activity then both the person drawing .
