Description

In this lesson, ss practice a receptive skill (listening) and a productive skill (speaking).The lesson starts with a lead in and the teacher introduce the topic of the lesson by showing some pictures of superheroes and pre-teaching some vocabulary. The first speaking activity is a controlled one, the ss describe the superhero in the pictures and try guessing what this superhero is doing. The second activity, ss scan listening to check their answers for ex1. In ex3 ss will be listening intensively to find the answers. I will play the recording a sufficient number of time, my aim is to get the ss to agree together without my help, I will be using verbal prodding, raise my eyebrows, nods, hints, until they agree. If time allows I will do Ex4, ss will be divided into groups to discuss the questions using the new vocabulary, when they finish their discussion teacher take wc FB.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead in (2-5 minutes) • To creat interest in the topic

Show pictures of some famous superhero and give them the chance to speak about there favorite superhero.

Pre-teaching vocab (10-13 minutes) • Practicing scan listening and To prepare the ss to describe and discusse the topic.

I will present the picture of the superhero which is in the unit and have the ss describe it. I will pre-teach new vocabulary and write them on the board. Ss will work in group to guess what is superhero doing and why is he wearing a mask. Then I will play the tape and ss scan listening to check if their guessing were right.

Listening (13-15 minutes) • To practice intensive listening

The ss work in pairs and listen intensively to the recording to find out which information was mentioned in the listening, after they finish they compare their answers in groups.. I will play the recording a sufficient number of time, my aim is to get the ss to agree together without my help, I will be using verbal prodding, raise my eyebrows, nods, hints, until they agree.

Speaking activity (10-12 minutes) • To practice speaking fluency

Ss work in group or in pairs to discuss why the man is hiding his identity, and what do they think he does when he is not dressed as a superhero. Teacher will be moving around the class monitoring to make sure all the ss are engaged to the discussion.
