Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of language used for Inviting and suggesting in the context of making invitations and suggestions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice the use of phrases such as “Would you like...?/ Let’s see..” in context.

Procedure

Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set context and generate interest in the topic of the lesson.

• Teacher introduces topic by telling T - S them that we also need to socialize with people in the real-world. • T asks Ss what they last saw in the cinema. • Ss answer as an open-class task. 5

Preparation (9-10 minutes) • To give students time to prepare ideas on the topic.

• T elicits types film genres from S - S asking to write them on .board. T - S • T chests a worksheet and instructs them to fill with different types of film genres. • Students do Ex 2 individually and then do peer-checking.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To remind Ss. of, or provide them with, useful language for the task

T tells students they are going to learn T - S how to make invitations and 15 suggestions. • T tells Ss they are going to fill in the gaps in a dialogue with the words provided (Ex.3) • T does ICQs and then Ss proceed to work in pairs. • T does an open-class feedback at the end of task.

Task (10-12 minutes) • To give Ss. time to speak.

.T tells Ss they are going to invite their partner to go out (Ex. 4) • T does demonstrate the task with one of the students. • Ss work with their partners (Controlled- practice). • T monitors task in progress assisting when needed. • T. tells Ss they are going to use their own suggestions trying not to look at the worksheet while speaking (Freer practice) • Ss work in pairs

Feedback (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on content and language.

• T elicits the useful phrases they used to make sure they have grasped the meaning. • T praises Ss on their work and says goodbye.
