Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide process and product writing practice of a curriculum vitae in the context of Life stories

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of CV/job related words in the context of Life stories

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'm just going to ask them, how do think I applied for the teacher job and elicit answers from them.

Pre-teach Vocab and context (5-10 minutes) • to make sure that nothing blocks the meaning

I'm going to show them some pictures and elicit the words from them. I'm going to show the stress and ask CCQs. Then I'm going to ask them to do activity no.1, which is a job ad, they are going to read it to see if it's suitable for Birgitte or not, then they are going to discuss together and then I'm going to give them a feedback

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I'm going to ask them to do activity no.2 as a preparation for the reading part. They will highlight the necessary topics for the CV and add more, then they will discuss in pairs. After that, I'll give them feedback, then ask them to start reading carefully in order to answer activity no.4. Then they will check the answer in pairs, then I'll give them feedback and the answer key.

Useful Language (5-7 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I'm going to elicit the CV form from them, and write it on the board, and give an analysis for each part.

Productive Task(s) (15-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I'm going to ask them to write a CV about themselves following the same form, we just discussed. I'll be monitoring them and taking notes for the feedback part. After they finish, I'll ask them to switch papers and imagine that each one is a HR, and evaluate the CV according to the form.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I'm going to highlight the mistakes on the board and elicit the correction from them
