In this lesson students will practice writing a paragraph about the life story of a person in their families Focus is on correct use of the present simple tense .

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a paragraph about fa family memeber life story in the context of family relationships

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

teacher starts the lesson by greting students then asks students about their family members and their relationships . Elicit the context of family ralationships by asking them who do they prefer and if they have a role model they want to follow and ask them why they have chosen this person. Introduce the topic of the lesson - a paragraph about the story of a family member.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading a short paragraph

I will asks students to open their books and start reading a short paragraph. In this paragraph students will learn how to write a paragraph talking about family relationships using the simple present tense. After reading the paragraph i will ask them to underline the verbes conjugated in the simple present tense. I will then elicit the rule of the sipmle present and explain the usage of this tense and how we put verbs in the present tense to talk about general truth .I will then explain that when it comes to talking about a preson's life story we use the S prensent to describe their life story.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

In this stage i will ask students to look at the paragraph again and find out the adjectives used in this paragraph to describe the story life the person . students will learn how to descibe the life of a person and how start a paragraph and how to introduce the topic sentence . then we will move to the body of the paragraph to learn more about the structure and the steps they should follow when writing a paragraph. students should start by writing a short introduction and the topic sentence then move to body paragraph and then end by writing a conclusion.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

students will write a paragraph following the steps explained earlier in the reading task. I will ask them to work individually to write a paragraph where they shoukd describe a member of their family, in thie paragraph they should talk about his life story and why they chose to talk about this person in particular . I will give them 10 min to do ths task . I will ask them some CCQS to check their understanding of this task. 1- are you going to work in pairs or individually ? individually , okay 2- are you going to talk about a member of your family or famous star ? a member of our family , good 2 - how much time do you have to do this task ? 10min , excellent.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

After 10 min I will ask students to drop their pens. In pairs I will ask them to excchange their paragraph and start correcting each other's errors. In this activity students will highlight the mistakes of their classmates. I will check their work and write down the mistakes then i will write the common mistakes in the board and ask students to correct them . Then i will choose randemly three to four students to read their paragraphs and give them my feedback
