Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To generate interest in the topic

I am going to show them a video about "A brief history about communication", but before showing the video, I'll ask them to watch and guess the main idea behind it, and discuss it with them. Note: If any technical problem happened, as mentioned in the anticipated problems, I'll show them, some picture, elicit and discuss with them.

Pre-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I'm going to teach them some vocab first, such as ancient, stamp, scribes, typewriter, enormous, whistles, the walkie- talkie, by showing some pictures, asking CCQs, and eliciting from them, then I'm going to give them a small exercise to check their understanding. after that, I'm going to give them exercise no. 2 in the book, which is "put these ways of communication in order from the oldest to the newest". They are going to do it alone, then in pairs, then they are going to read to know if they are right or wrong.

While-Reading (15-20 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

They are going to scan to just find the answers of activity no.2 in the book, after that I'm going to discuss with them quickly or give them an answer key. Then I'm going to ask them to read now carefully to answer activity number 3 in the book. Then they are going to discuss it in pairs, then I'm going to give them an answer key and discuss it with them. After that, I'm going to ask them to answer activity no.4 according for what they already read, alone then in pairs and give them an answer key. Of course, I'm going to mentor them well and write down their grammar mistakes to give later feedback.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The final task is speaking task. They are going to do the activity no.5 which is discussion through some questions. They are going to work in pairs or groups. Then I'm going to elicit from them and give feedback.
