Description

by the end of this lesson they will have learnt about past verbs (regular and irregular) and how to make past sentences, after that work on pronunciation, the differences between /t/ and /d/. the lesson finishes with feedback and correction.

Main Aims

  • To provide of awarness about the past events through using the simple past tense

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a speaking practice in a kind of converstation about their past

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

first of all i play the voice which i recorded, after that i ask them to say that the verbs are related to simple past and then i will write them on the board

Exposure (1-2 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

i use handout for usage of simple past (when we use simple past)

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

i gave them the grammar which i am going to teach it. i will tell them all about the simple past tens, how can they make positive, negative and question sentences. i prepared some irregular verbs in paper that i gave them. for CCQ : the sentence is " he started composing ate the age of five." and questions are " 1.what is the verb? 2.does it happen in the past? 3.do we know when it happen? "

Controlled Practice (6-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

first of all asked from ss to write 2 simple past sentences, second of all i asked from ss to read the text that i gave them, i will tell them how should they answers to the 6 questions after that when they finish i asked them to check their answers with their partner then i want to some of them to read their answers

Free Practice (5-6 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

i asked from ss to tell me about their last week and what did they do in previous week
