Description

In this lesson, students learn about new words and new places through reading text about "100 places to visit before you die" .The lesson starts with a discussion about travelling and which places do you like to visit before you die ?T his is followed by eliciting the meaning of some new words and places .Then reading for some specific questions and reading for deatils. Finally,let them talk about their opinions about these places.

Main Aims

  • To provide vocabulary,activities,specific ,detailed, reading through a text "100 places to visit before you die"

  • To provide clarification in the context of 100 places to visit before you die

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1-Ask students some questions about their experience of travilling and places which they already visited .a-Do you like travilling? b- Did you travel abroad before? c- Do you like holidays ? d- where did you go on holidays ?What's the important thing that you look for in a holiday destination? d-Which place do you like to visit before you die? 2-show the student some pictures of things which are important or not when they look for in a holiday destination? Let them discuss in groups about their opinions of the pictuers and their needs when they want to travel on holidays. Then I discuss with them about their opinions.

Pre-Reading (10-15 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

There are many difficult vocabularies.so, I will divided them into two categories to clearify them easily.First, I show the first category on power point slide ,elicit the meaning from the students then drill and write the form on word card and paste them under their own picture to save time and save TTT. Second,give them a" match task" to match the word with its pictures .let them check in pairs then the feedback"answers" on the power point slides.drill if they needed .

While-Reading #1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with schema-activation and specific information reading tasks.

Schema - activation(2 minutes ):Ask students to look at(scan) the readig texts quickly and answer some questions about the title of each paragraph and if they hear about these places before "Wh.questions".check in pairs then feedback. Reading for specific(5-7 minutes):This is a competition between them if anyone answer the questions quickly ,He is the winner.Ask students to read the questions first ,then read the text quickly to find the answer quickly to win the competition.

While-Reading #2 (15-20 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks

Reading for detailed(15-20 minutes);Ask students to read the questions first then read the texts carefully to answer the questions easily.then check their answers in pairs then I give them a written feedback to save time and save TTT.(If I have enough time ,I 'll give them oral feedback).

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Ask students to read the text again and think about the questions .check in pairs and then feedback with them (oral feedback)
