In this lesson SS will learn how to give advice using should and shouldn't I will elect the form and it's meaning through the main text and some pictures. The lesson will be continued with some practices which SS must use should as advices that they should follow if they decided to live abroad

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of Should and shouldn't as an advice in the context of Travel, local language, local people
  • To provide clarification

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about Staying in different places and dealing with different people in the context of Travel , family

Procedure

Lead in (2-3 minutes) • To provide context of grammar

I will show the class a picture of three different countries The U K, Australia and Egypt. Then I will ask them What do you think these countries are? Have you ever travel abroad? Would you like to live abroad?

Pre_teaching vocabulary (2-3 minutes) • To clarify the meaning of blocking words

I will discuss with the class the meaning of new words for example STay: You shouldn't stay at home. I will explain the meaning then I will make a ccq to make sure that they got the meaning clearly For example: Should we go out or stay? Why should we not to stay at home while we are abroad? I will discuss anther word Would you like to live in a different country? Different means: not the same Is the weather in summer and winter the same or different? Do we wear the same clothes in summer and winter or different?

Gist reading (3-2 minutes) • To clarify the meaning of the text focusing on should and shouldn't

SS will read the text and we will discuss the meaning as general . I will repeat the sentences that has should and shouldn't

Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To provide context of the target grammar through the text

I will divide the class into groups of 4. Then I will give each group a paper containing 4 halves sentences I will ask them to match these halves according to the main text

Grammar presentation (4-6 minutes) • To clarify the mean of should and shouldn't and how can we use it in advising

I will write the sentences that the students had in the previous task *You should try to learn the local language too *They shouldn't forget their family back home. * He should live like the local people. *She shouldn't go to the national museum. I will explain the meaning of should by saying that should means that it's better to do so and so Then I will ask them to choose the right answer with the following question You should means a) you have to do it b) it's a good idea After they answer me I will return to sentences l have written on the board, and make a ccq

Clarification • To clarify the form of should and shouldn't

I will discuss with the students through the sentences that I have written on the board the form of verb and what subjects that come with should and shouldn't by asking these questions Which subjects come with should? SS will answer according to what is written on the board. What is the form of the verb with should? What is the form of the verb with shouldn't? Do we change subjects with should or shouldn't? After should,do we have any suffix of the verbs? What is the negative from of should? How can I make Y/N question? How can I make WH question?

Practice (2-3 minutes) • To provide students with some exercises to get used to the new form

Students will underlined the correct word the they check in the texts 1/ you should/shouldn't try to learn the local language too. 2/ you should/shouldn't forget your family back home. 3/ you should/ shouldn't live like the local people

Semi_ controlled practice (3-5 minutes) • To give them the chance to practice the form in some limited speaking

In your group write 4sentences with should and other 4 for with shouldn't For example I should............. In the class I shouldn't ......... In the class

Free practice (4-6 minutes) • To give them a chance to have their own view on something they practiced

SS will play a game as if one of them is an interviewer and the others are his guest ,he will ask them about their point of view about different issues and their advices
