Description

In this lesson, students learn about expressing permission. First they were asked what problems that can be happen in office. Ss teach other the items in a game called ‘Hot Potato’. Each student will be given a picture and look at the problem at the back of the picture. The aim is to give the pictures away to Ss who don’t know the words and fins some solutions.

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about a local newspaper has received a letter from staff at a local office complaining about local conditions. in the context of Bosses, Staff members, Reporters,

Procedure

One (10-12 minutes) • Warmer .To create Ss interest the topic.

● Lead-in to the topic and asks Ss what problems that can happen in offices. Then, get a few ideas and get Ss into small groups and gets them to brainstorm some more. Next, take some work class and gets Ss to suggest some solutions to the problems. ● Explain the situation- a local newspaper has received a letter from staff at a local office complaining about local conditions. Reporters have been sent out to find out to find what is going on. They need to find out the opinions of both sides.

Two (10-12 minutes) • To set lesson context and engaged Ss for speaking

Divide Ss into four groups: A. Bosses B. Staff members. C. Reporter 1 D. Reporter 2. Give Ss time to read. Then get them to discuss their roles.

Three (10-12 minutes) • To give Ss some practice for speaking

●Tell Ss to elicit that in order for the reports to write balanced story they need to get both sides of the story. Re-group Ss again so reporters swap interviewers.

Four (8-10 minutes) • Feedback Correct their own errors

● Ask Ss if they thought there were a lot of problems at the company and is there are any solutions. Tell Ss, they are going to try and solve the problems. ● Do some delayed Feedback. Put the points you noted onto the w/b and get Ss to correct their own errors.
