Description

In this lesson students will demonstrate their ability to use various modal forms (e.g. be able to, was able to,can,will be able to,manage to) in different contexts, and describe their abilities . Additionally, students will be introduced to a more thorough understanding of lexicalized syntax models and non-lexicalized syntax modals, and talk talented people.

Materials

Abc board ,projector ,students`book,worksheets .Handouts.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of Modals and phrases of ability and Articles. in the context of talk about talented people.and describe their abilities.• Language Focus[review and extension] modals & phrases to express their abilities.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a • Speaking using modals and phrases • To further develop listening and speaking skills in the context of .• Language Focus[review and extension] modals & phrases to express their abilities.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Write one sentence on the w/b:I was able to play tennis Next, I will ask Ss what "able to " means. Acceptable answers synonymous would be acceptable. Ss will then be asked to think of substitutes to "able to " --manged to , can do

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

Ss will be given some examples and I will explain them to deduct the rule .

Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

, I give the pupils some sentences and told them to rewrite sentences using the phrases given without looking at the book. The Ss will be put in pairs or groups depending on the number present. . Ss will peer-check the answers . Ss will check book for correct answers.

Planning (6-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to plan students' reports

I will check the pupils answers to show feedback.And discuss examples with them .

Language Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

Let the pupils listen to audio and ask them to retell me the modals and phrases and articles which they heard .Let them work in groups to discuss it.
