Main Aims

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ss will be asked to look at the four picture from the lesson and guess what is happening in each one. They'll tell me their thoughts in an open class conversation. Then they'll be asked to match each photo to the sentences from exercise 1. first one will be demonstrated with them. Pair check. Feedback.

Test #1 (12-15 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

They'll be asked to do exercise 2. The audio will be played once and will be pause after each question to have time to answer. Monitoring to notice the mistakes they made. From the analysis box (1) they'll be asked to write the question they remember from the previous audio using the auxiliary verbs in the box then they'll ask and answer the question in pairs after listening to the audio for the second time. Then they'll be asked to do exercise (2) from the analysis box. First one will be demonstrated with them. Pair check. feedback.

Teach (18-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

To clarify the present simple tense, i will show them in a power point slide pictures and they will guess what is happening in the picture. first pictures of kids going to school, ask them what do you think where are they going, is it a habit, so what do we say, the phrase will be shown on the board they usually go to school. Then a picture of a man with a headache, what do think how he feels,they answer then on the board he has a headache. then a picture of someone rejecting coffee, so we say she doesn't want coffee. then they will be exposed to the usage of the present simple. For clarifying the present continuous tense, the will be asked CCQs. I will be writing something in my note and then ask them what i'm doing now, they will say and then i write on the board "i'm writing a note". I will ask each one of them about what are they doing now, and take some answers and write one on the board. Then i will ask them if you want to say that you're visiting your friend next week what to say, "i'm going to visit my friend next week" or "i'm visiting my friend next week". then they'll be exposed to the usage of the present continuous tense. then they'll be given handouts from page 144 from the student book and read it with them.

Test #2 (10-12 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Page 7 exercise 1-(a) they will be asked to try to guess what is the missing auxiliary then i will tell them that the sentence starts with a capital letter but that doesn't mean it's necessarily the first word and demonstrate 6 with them. Pair check. They will listen to an audio to check their answers. Then they'll be asked to guess which sentence belongs to which photo. Pair check. Feedback. then on they will listen to the audio again to notice the stressed words. first two will be demonstrated. Pair check. feedback.

Free practice (15-17 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Exercise 2 page 7 They'll be asked to choose two of the conversations to act in front the class using the question from exercise 2 page 6. Exercise 3 they'll be asked to ask my "the teacher" some questions using the auxiliary verbs like in practice one same page. Exercise 4 They'll be asked to form questions to each sentence, then write down in their papers, they'll work in pairs. then listen to the last audio to check and then i will ask them to tell the questions and write on the board.
