Description

- In this lesson, students will get exposed to the present perfect "Sth started in the past and still and will continue in the future" through a text about present perfect about an employee's experience in different companies and his current job to get exposed to the topic. After that, they will do a fully-controlled followed by a semi-controlled practice. Play "I have never+pp" game to practice the Present Perfect tense.

Materials

Main Aims

  • Make a conversation using Present perfect to talk about their experience in life: I have started my English class for 5 weeks.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Role Play in the context of Work interview and a candidate is talking about his work experience using Present Perfect

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- Did you go to any interview before? 2- What are the main questions you were asked? 3- Experience in the interview is the most important thing, so how you explain it?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Keeping the same picture of the interview on the board, I ask them to read the text quickly and get the gist. is he still working? is it about his life style?

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I explain more using this sentence of the text: "I think I have had a very interesting life." Start to explain and model the meaning for the students more of this sentence and why it is used this way. Ask them about the tense

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T writes a marker sentence on the board and asks the Ss to read it. Answer the question in groups of the Ho Checks answers together Further explanation if needed. Elicit more example Say the sentences using pronunciation, stress, and intonation.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T asks the students "What have you achieved at work so far?

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T picks some students to ask each other about things they have achieved till now in their lives.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Play the game "I have never + p.p" to let the students create their sentences oof their personal lives.
