Description

In this lesson pupils are going to read and understand a text about using the internet through reading first for gist to get the main idea.Then reading the text again to get more specific information and answer some comprehensive question in scanning and Reading for details steps.After that they will practice more speaking through exchanging and discussing information about how life can be with or without using the internet.

Procedure

Anticipated problems and solutions • To focus on finding solutions for some anticipated problems

P1: Pupils may face some problems in getting the meaning of some blocked words S1: Introducing the meaning of the most blocked words in the text . P2 : Pupils may face problems in answering some comprehensive questions after reading the text . S1: Asking them to work in pairs and small groups .

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show students some photos of people in the past life when life was different without using the internet .Then ask pupils to work in pairs to fill some sentences about life in the past without the internet using the present simple form of some guided list of verbs in worksheets.

Exposure (3-4 minutes)

Using some real technological devices to discuss using the internet in our lives ,Then individually students think about how they use the internet through ticking the things they sometimes /everyday do .Then compare their ideas in small groups .

Blocked words {MPF} (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through pictures and a video

**Meaning :- Clarifying the meaning of the the blocked words using some pictures , gestures and using them in context . And define which parts of speech they are . **Eliciting :- Pupils answer some questions using the target language in their answers, for example : * Who are the people who live near to you? {neighbours} * What do you do to think about something that isn't real ? { I imagine } **CCQ: - Asking pupils some checking context questions{close, open and referential } to check their understanding of the target language , For example : * Can people contact with each others without the internet ? {Yes,they can } * Do you have a lot of neighbours ? {Yes , I have } **Pronunciation : Playing the CD for students to repeat them many times focusing on the stressed syllables in the target words . **Form : Show the pupils the form of the new words to identify them . {contact{V}-imagine{V}-neighbours{N}-the news{N}-whole } ** Practice : Asking pupils to answer some controlled, semi controlled or free practice activities to check their understanding to the target language _Asking pupils to fill in the missing words in the sentences on board .

Pre-Reading (3-4 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Pupils read the first part of the text " This month on Tech Blog" to answer individually question number {1} about the main topic of the text .

While-Reading#1 (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging specific information reading task

.Asking pupils individually in scanning step to read the part one in the text text to answer question number {2} to get a specific information about what is unusual about Kim's family this month.

While-Reading #2 (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Students read the text again to answer some comprehensive questions to get more specific details from the text .Then they compare their answers in pairs and check the answers as a class.

Post-Reading (5-8 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Students work in small groups to talk together about the answers of the questions {e} step in their PB.P32 .I will monitor them taking notes without interrupting their fluency.Finally check their answers as a class .

Wrap up activity (3-4 minutes)

Ask pupils write some sentences in pairs about how much time they spend on using the internet to finish some things every week and the websites they use to do these things , using some guided pictures .
