Description

In this lesson students learn about rooms., things around house and there is/are through a dialogue and a poster.The lesson starts with a video about an unusual house.This is followed by an unscramble the text activity and then vocabulary presentation through poster, comprehension questions. After that ss play "How good is your memory?" game through the poster. Finally, ss are asked to draw describe their dream houses.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of there is/are in the context of four friends' adventure in a house.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

A video related to unusual houses is watched and s are asked to which house they like most. Would they liketo live in an unusual house?

Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The text is scrambled and given to the ss to unscamble it with peers while listening the text.

Highlighting (6-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

The poster is hung on the board and words are repeated a few times to present and drilling. A memory game is followed.

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

And then the text is played to check their answers. And ss act the diaogue out for a few times to understand it clearly. The text can be listened agan if needed.

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ss are asked to check the poster carefully to be able to remember it to well to win the game. After that ss are divided into three groups via classdojo group maker tool and sit together in a circle. And five Qs to each group are asked, if the previous cannot find the correct answer the other teams can reply it by writing the answer on a paper and give it to the teacher if both answers are correct, each team gets points.The winners have the right to change their monsters. Each group has 15 seconds to answer the Q,timer tool of clasdojo is used for this.

Free Practice (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Blank papers are given to ss and they are asked to draw their dream houses within groups of three ss in five minutes and shortly describe it. And then one of the group members presents it to the class. Finally, products are collected and hung on the bulletin in the classroom or corridor.

Extra activity • to revise

Memory game about their dream houses can be played if there is enough time.
