Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask them about their day. Write the following question on the board: ? How can I live to be 100? Pair them to share ideas. Set the time. ICQ their task. Alone or with a friend? Are you going to write? Get a feedback, write the topic on the board.

Pre-teach vocabulary (2-3 minutes) • To avoid confusion from task blockers

Pre-teach the following words.Go through proper stages of teaching a word. here are some possible CCQs. 1. Teenagers ?Are they young? (yes) ? Are they adults? (no) 2. Unhealthy ? Is it good for you? (no) ? Is it bad for you? (yes)

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a short reading text

Ask them to quickly read the reading and answer the following question: Is it the same in your country? give them 2 minutes. ICQ the task ?Alone or with a friend? (alone) ?How much time do you have? (2) Get a feedback.

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Attract their attention to the highlighted sentences on the text.

Clarification (6-11 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Meaning Draw a timeline with 0% at the bottom and 100% at the top.Then point to yourself and point at the 0% and shake your head to indicate the meaning of never. and try to elicit the meaning of the rest of the adverbs of frequency from the Ss. Form Ask them to look at the position of the highlighted words and expressions, and try to find the rule. (exercise b pg.32). Pair them, set the time, ask some ICQs, and monitor them. Get a feedback, and explain the rule if necessary. Handout the paper with rules and ask them to take a look. Pronunciation: Highlight the pronunciation.

Controlled Practice (7-9 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Give them instructions about their next task, set the time, ICQ their task. "the position of the adverb" ? How many sentences? (8) ? Are you going to write? (yes) Handout the papers. Monitor them. Pair them to share answers. Get a feedback.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Give instructions about the word order task they are about to do. Set the time, ICQ the task. ? How many sentences? (10) ? Alone or with a partner? (alone) Monitor the task, give them the answer key for the feedback.

Free Practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ask Ss to answer some questions about themselves. Set the time and ICQ their task. ?Alone or with a friend? (Alone) Change their partners to give them a chance to practice the new grammar with some new partners, and ask them to ask and answer the questions. Do some delayed corrections if you noticed any.
