Procedure

introduction (15-20 minutes) • to break the ice

the teacher introduces himself and writes his name on the board. He then asks students to write down a couple of sentences about themselves. Papers are shuffled and students are asked to guess who the person is.

Warmer/Lead-in (10-12 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

teachers gives the students an imaginary situation and students are asked to work in pairs and talk about their reactions to the situation.

Exposure (12-15 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Teacher then ask students to mention their reactions to the class while the teacher indirectly mentions the target language, would and prefer to

Highlighting (5-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

the teacher then writes the target language on the board and highlights it in sentences.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

meaning, form, functions and pronunciation is covered by the teacher

semi-controlled practice (8-10 minutes) • consolidate the TL

Teacher gives examples of his own preferences and then asks students to do the same.
